I like dish network

No, NO, NO, NO. BADDDDDD company.
I liked them when I got them (best technology on the market, in my opinion), BUT..... I had a couple of issues that came up with my box (expected, really, so wasn't mad about tech issues) and even though their tech team is pretty good and happen to be in the same country as where I was calling from (the US). The customer service department is located over seas, they are TERRIBLE!!!! They take no accountability, can't correct errors on that Dish Network creates and don't really understand how things work in the US (and don't care because they know there is no way to complain about their service - I tried!)
When my in-law's home burnt down and had no home to have their Dish Network service to go to, they again had no concept of reality and tried to get them to pay to put the account on 'hold' for $10 a month rather than pay the $25 dollar reactivation fee later... Made no sense since it takes longer than 2.5 months to rebuild a house and not cost effective. Then the in-laws got harassed to re-activate weekly since Dish Network couldn't comprehend that THEY HAD NO HOUSE anymore. Stupid.
AND, when my neighbor moved to a new city and tried to move his Dish Network service to new house, the technician was unable to get a Dish Network signal to the new house. So he had to cancel the service because Dish Network COULDN'T provide a service to him and then forced him to pay a cancellation fee even though it was them who couldn't provide the service. They said "We didn't force you to move, so you have to pay.... Doesn't matter that it's because we CAN'T give it to you"!
Go with Direct TV. Have had no problems with them (yet).

I think so! I live in a rural area and still get local channels and cable is so expensive!

the only thing is you get no local channels with Dish

Dish sucks they have the worst customer service believe me I worked there..just hope you don't have the probs most have with their equiptment...
