I haven't but my sister was an exchange student there for 6 months when she was in high school, and she has been saving up to go back permanently ever since. I saw pictures and heard all the first hand accounts (not to mention, watched Lord of the Rings about a 1000 times which is where it was filmed). It seems like a truly beautiful country. My sister stayed on the South island which is a little less populated than the North. However, both are gorgeous according to her. If she ever goes back I really want to go with her!

Yes, traveled through both islands. Absolutely loved it. What amazing diversity--from rain forests to desert to mountains, bubbling mud pits, lush grottos, steam rising from the ground, whales and dolphins swimming just offshore...
Small towns and bit cities. Lovely weather and drenching downpours. Friendly people and a few jerks. Art, theatre, music...
While I was there I kept thinking "I could live here."

Yes for 6 monyhs as my ex-wife came from there and we had an opportunity to travel throughout the 2 islands .

No,I haven't.I spent three years in Australia and I figured that since you're all pretty much the same,it wasn't worth going.But being in Australia gave me an idea of what you're like.
