Take a deep breath and step back from the stress. I too only have a high school education but don't let that stop you. Try working for a temporary. It lets you work in a variety of positions so you can find out what you like and get paid doing it. There are lots of opportunities online to educate yourself. Did you work in an office? Microsoft has lots of tutorials if you want. Most companies do. In terms of your personal life, you didn't mention if that were an issue. Try doing volunteer work as a way to get out and explore the world around you. There are hundreds of places to meet new people when you volunteer. Most of all, make yourself a promise that you will do some goal setting and that you will NEVER EVER move back in with your parents.

Go back to school, even a local junior college, and get a degree in something you love. You don't need a degree in business to become a business guy, just the college education shows that you have experience. Get a bachelor's degree and get a job at a big business and work your way up to the top.

A lot of people have been in your shoes. Moving back in with your parents doesn't mean you are becoming a child again....it's just that maybe you can start all over again from the comfort of your true home....temporarily!
Find a better job...and start your own family...make a home for yourself...one that your future children can back to in times of need.

what are your passions, your gifts. Go to a job counselor and figure out what it is that you have an aptitude for and is excited about. I recommend vocational training or further education. High School education is not sufficient to make it in this technologically sophisticated market. Don't despair--this firing may be a blessing in disguise. You can use this time to explore and make concrete, achievable goals. good luck!

it's liberating to move away from the parents if ur financially stable. I rekon u'll feel like a bit of a drop kick if u live with ur parents and get deppressed, believe me it's a step backward even if the meals are all home cooked. Do what u enjoy. if money's very important to u, then go to school. if u got a talent work with it.

Well, you are taking a step (asking for guidance). The main thing is not to wallow in self pitty. Get up, get another job, and be productive. Sitting back and saying "Whoa is me" is a Chicken **** perspective. You and you alone are in charge of every thing you say, think, do, or feel. Take charge of yourself.

you are probably in the USA, you got basically several options... one is to get another job and eventually make enough money to move out and pursue whatever dreams you might have... the other is to seek training right now in whatever you want a career in... 28 years old is still young enough to study something and make a career out of it.

find out what you like to do. what are your interests? have you ever had a chance to take some time off and really get to know who YOU are? now's the time to do it. but don't take too long. I mean, you're no Spring Chicken...then, if you find that you need to go to school for what you are interested in, you should consider going.

good luck

Don't get down on yourself. Look for a new job. Go back to school. Do something besides feel sorry for yourself.
