It always depends on the person as to how much they would lose. HAs she fainted recently?Fainting is often caused by asudden lack of nurishment. Have you talked to your friend about anorexia? Does she change the subject every time you bring it up?These are all very important questions. It's great that your trying to help her. You can go ahead and contact me to let me know her symptoms and all. I would need more information about the issue to give you my full opinion.

kheserthorpe has it right...lets say you are out in the desert...nothing to eat. After a day or two of no food..your body goes into survival mode....meaning you are more tired, you sleep more, you move slower, your brain works a little slower, etc etc.
Why? Well, in absence of food, your body slows down to conserve energy.
That is what is so funny (Not funny like a clown...but funny as in "unexpected)...a person starves themselves to lose a few pounds and makes it probably 5x harder to lose weight than it would be otherwise.
Wanna lose weight? Keep eating what you are eating...in moderation...and just start running 45 minutes a day. Really. That is all it takes. You will feel better, you will lose weight, and, you will look like 10x better since you are doing it thru running rather than starvation.
So
1) Starve: Feel bad, look bad, make it hard to lose weight
2) Run: Feel good, look good, make it easy to lose weight
Hmmmm. Not much of a decision it seems

Eating nothing isn't a particularly effective way of losing weight. Basically our bodies have a 'famine' mode. If you eat nothing, your body assumes there's a famine going on, so it immediately cuts its calorie use to bare minimal levels. Essentially, it does everything it can to _prevent_ weight loss. It uses up muscle tissue and saves fat, since that will cut energy use going forward. If you keep it up, you'll start getting more body hair then normal all over, so your body can keep itself warm. Eventually your body may eject its teeth as a waste of nutrients.
Your friend might prefer to eat a reasonably portioned and nutritionally balanced diet high in fruits and vegetables but containing fat, protein and carbohydrates in reasonable quantities, coupled with exercise.

Eating nothing - or very little - doesn't actually help you lose weight. Instead, your body goes into a starvation mode, where it can actually GAIN weight. It is also very very dangerous.
All you really need to know is that your friend needs help. Tell her parents or find a counselor for her.
