Rappers, and Pop Singers hardly ever use live music on TV, and live performances. Some do use live music but its rare. Its kinda like watching karaoke to me. Entertainers sing along with recorded music on microphone. What ever happened to using real instruments on stage? Do you consider rappers, and pop singers as musicians?

do you know what the POP in pop singers means? it's POPULAR. a rapper who basis his entire existance as an artist relies on popularity to succeed.

classical music, conversely doesn't need a huge audience (popularity) to exist over the standard of time. it transcends such tributary boundaries.

without popularity, rappers sink. once sunk, they turn to crack, and rape, and jail time or simply get shot cuz they lose their producers soo much money.

it's money driven. rap music has no ability to transcend time unlike music that will stand the test of time. it's dated the minute its' pressed similar to the way their escalades depreciate the minute it's rolled off the car lot.

bless.

I consider rappers to be poets or spoken word artists, not musicians.

Pop singers are singing, whether it's to live or canned music, so they're musicians. Not my idea of good musicians, but musicians just the same.

They should be considered artists. Musicians play their own instruments. For example, The hip-hop group The Roots, play their own instruments so they are musicians. While artists like say, Mariah Carey, write their own songs, they are not musicians because they do not play an instrument.

Rap is just like any other form of music weather you like it or not, It all depends on whoes listening. To you it may seem like a sing a long but to me Rock seems like some guy shouting at the top of his lungs about nothing. Whatever music genre you like it still takes skill and artistic ability to write a song. Its many song writers who cant sing, But they are still musicians. So yes Rapers are Musicians

Musicians indicate that they play an instrument....otherwise they are just singers.

Rappers, no! Rap stinks. It doesn't take talent to do whatever it is that they're doing. Pop, yes. Remember, The Beatles were pop.

IF YOU'RE NOT PLAYING AN INSTRUMENT YOU'RE NOT A MUSICIAN. HUMAN BEAT BOXES ARE NOT MUSICIANS. AND TURNTABLES ARE NOT INSTRUMENTS. AT BEST THE MAJORITY OF RAPPERS ARE LYRICISTS THE EXCEPTIONAL
ONES LIKE MOS DEF AND KANYE CAN BE CLASSIFIED AS POETS
