It depends on the school and where you end up.

Graduates of top MBA programs usually start ast over $100K. Graduates from lower ranked schools don't do quite as well. Graduates from night programs don't usually get much of a boost (other than from the very top schools -- but very few of them have night programs).

Guides like US News and BusinessWeek list average starting salaries. You have to be somewhat careful with your interpretations, though. For example, Columbia usually has one of the highest average starting salaries of the top schools, while Duke isn't quite as high. But that is because many of Duke's graduates stay in the South where housing costs and salaries are lower, while many of Columbia's students stay in New York. Duke MBAs who go to New York do as well as Columbia graduates wo stay in New York.

There is no set rate. Some folks get theirs like some folks get a degree in wine-tasting. Some folks get theirs to get a broader perspective on the world. Some folks get theirs because they have a goal and the MBA can be used as a tool to help them achieve their goal. On the other hand, some folks don't need a college education to run their business and consider the MBA an impediment. Bill Gates dropped out of college because it was in the way of him setting up Microsoft.
