I have been exercising for 10+ years and I am in great shape. My knowedge is from my own experiences, I have never had any classes or schooling on diet and exercise.

What I have found is a person can do sit-ups and crunches until they are blue in the face and still not looe their belly. If you want to loose the belly you have to burn more calories than you eat. I gave up drinking empty calories like sodas and artificial juices, stopped eating big meals at night, and make sure I eat breakfast every morning to get the metabolism moving at the beginning of the day, and of course cardio vascular exercises at the gym.

Doing many crunches or sit-ups especially with extra weight or resistance can actually increase the protrution of a belly becuase you are building the abs muscles larger which can push the fat sitting on the muscles further out. I do sit-ups and crunches 2 - 3 times a week but never add resistance only my own body weight, I have a trimmer waist line and better looking six pack then the guys doing tons of abs with high weights.

change how u eat, ive learned that by eating small amounts throughout the day is way better for my body than eating 3 big full meals a day. also drink plenty of water and whenever ure loungin around get on the floor and do situps while u watch tv or listen to ure ipod..these are just suggestions if ure pressed for time and dont go to the gym. i have abs from just doing this but i wasnt huge to begin with

Just change your appetite and eat more meals. By this I mean eat smaller proportions. Eat more fruits and drink more water. Excersise more than you can handle and do weight training. So the cardio and weight training should help you out. Do crunches and push-ups also. When you watch television or are just laying around on the couch, do excercise. Same applies when you're bored or just being a bum.
