Many enlightened people are. It is the root of nearly all the worlds problems. But it goes deeper than that. Its foundation is in intolerance. Intolerance of race, culture and religion. These are often bundled into the concept 'racism'. Intolerance comes from ignorance which leads to fear. Once this has kicked in the human survival takes over and violence is the result. The only way we can ever find peace and love in this world is if we become tolerant and accept our differences in culture, religion and race. unfortunately the decision makers that govern what we perceive through media and politics have all the economic reasons to breed this hatred in us so they can pull the $$. Very sad. We need to become independant thinkers, we need to ignore the brainwashing that is going on and take tolerance into our own hands. If each person would just start with themselves we will have an enlightement revolution and we will find peace and love through unity and acceptance.
One can see from the answers to your question (and that you asked it) that it is already happening.
Thanks for the positive question.
You will walk in light, allways.

I believe that racism should have never existed. Why look at the color of someones skin when that person could be a good person. I give everyone a chance to be decent( every race, poor and rich you name it.) I had real good parents that raised me to look at people for who they are and not what they look like( Don't judge a book by its cover) even though we were raised in a redneck town that lacked the common sense to see past the persons color and see the real person inside. Yes I am sick of racism and I pity anyone who tries to speak racist around me because if they say they don't like a certain race, like black, I tell them I am part black, which I'm not, and I make them feel real uncomfortable. This way then they understand how I feel when they talk like that. Try it and see how many people get embarrassed.

Me.

But it seems to be getting worse, doesn't it?
And it isn't even partisan.

So much of the hatred comes from the misperception that 'them immigrants are stealing our jobs'...

The truth is if we had a healthy economy there wouldn't be any shortage of jobs.

When we see people divided because of race, the underlying truth is usually that the real division is because of class, and the wealthy would rather the poor just hated one another, rather than asked the hard questions, such as :"Why should any man be payed tens of millions of dollars a year, when tens of millions of dollars could support an entire community for a year?"

The unfairness of our out of balance economic system causes racism and other forms of interpersonal hatred to occur as a distraction from the real problem, and that is greed and powermonging.

It is easy for racism to exist simply because some people are not forced to accept cultural diversity. Unfortunately so many white people are unaware of their racial tendencies that they act in a racist manner without realizing it.

Yeah, it's OK to hate someone, but don't do it for something like the color of their skin, or because of where they came from, or what they believe, hate the person because they're an asshole. That's the only reason you need.
