We've been consistently performing well, sometimes though we hit some slumps but we get through them pretty well. I do also have the trust and confidence of the team.

Remind the team of their accomplishments, what obstacles each one of them has already overcome. Then mention the next challenge, and your assurance that they can overcome it as well.

It's important to feed the passion already instilled within your team, and nurture any doubts with practice and drills.

If my team hit their goals, we would sometimes have "movie Friday" where we would schedule a conference room and show a movie (complete with popcorn and sodas) on Friday afternoon.

If you're on a budget, you have to be creative. Sometimes just taking the time to recognize people and celebrating your achievements means a lot (you could have a team party with cake or something). Most people know companies are on tight budgets. If you have the flexibility, you could give people some extra time off. Just letting everyone leave an hour or two early on a Friday is a big boost. You could also do "jeans week" where everyone can where jeans all week (depending on your type of work group and environment, of course).

If you do have some extra money, there are a lot of possibilities. One time we went and played laser tag, and it was a blast! You'll have to check with your direct manager and possibly HR for liability issues.

um, Wacky Tacky Tie day?

Just kiding. In my experience, Adults are generally not motivated by much except personal gain. Time off, bonuses, being allowed to "play" during company time (like taking the team to a movie, or bowling or a ball game) are all things that my company uses to motivate teams. Or try rewards that are generally not tied to performance- like training or certification- that create an atmosphere of "the company is interested in developing you as a resource".

I am a team manager for my Passion Parties group!! Just knowing that the girls are looking to me for support keeps me motivated! We have 2 meetings per month and talk on the phone often. I offer them incentives that help them meet their goals each month. They are usually pumped and ready to go!

Make sure the end goal is always on their minds. Also, in order to ensure they are playing their hearts out, bench the ones that play lazily. They will never give less than 100% again.

I find that it helps to keep them involved in decision processes where their views and experience are relevant.
Also, people like to know they are listened to.
