Hamsters are nocturnal so the best time to catch them is at night when they are running around. I have had great sucess on many occasions over the years by leaving a small dish of your hamsters favorite food (probably sunflower seeds or peanuts) in the center of the room and waiting. It may take several nights, but I have always caught hamsters this way. There is always a humane mouse trap available that is a metal cage in which you put the food. Usually the local animal control will have them to rent.

first look behind the fridge, they are often there - dont move it though because u could squish him. also check the stove. have some broccoli or other fresh food with u to lure him in case he's there. put it near the edge of the fridge & watch & listen. put a bucket out with books or something leading up to it so he can crawl to the edge. make a trail of food on the books, just a tiny bit, leading up the books and then put broccoli (no water) in the bottom of the bucket he'll fall in and be trapped and waiting for u. a small trash can or anything not too tall with smooth sides works. if u r home u can try putting his cage on the floor open and he may sneak in for food and u can catch him. if u see him but cant grab him u might put a trash can or something like that in front of him so he'll run in it or his ball if u have one. he'll come out at night hungry if u dont find him today. block any holes to outside!

Take a bucket and lean a small wooden board (or make some kind of steps such as with books) against it to form a ramp to the top of the bucket. Line the ramp with food. When the hamster gets hungry it will see the food and climb up the ramp as it eats. When it reaches the top and sees food inside the bucket it will fall in (make sure that bottom of the bucket is well cushioned) and once it's in the bucket it can't climb out and when you go to check on it, the hamster will be inside.

This has happened to me a couple of times. Since my hamster is so used to his hamster ball, when he escaped I found him and calmly coaxed him inside. My advice is to get something that you know they're use to or familiar with (food, toys, hamster ball, etc.) It's very important that you're calm because when you're too excited, they get scared and run away from you. Even if you have to stay up for awhile, they're bound to come out into the open at some point. Good Luck!

I have read that a good way to do it is to get a bucket. You put some food in the bottom of the bucket then put some sort of board that they can climb up. Supposedly, they will climb up and fall in the bucket trying to get the food and in the morning you can put him back in the cage. I have never tried it but supposedly it works. It will require patience. If that doesn't work you'll probably just have to figure out where he is hiding and try to scoop him up. I recommend wearing a thick glove when trying to catch him with your hand because they tend to bite when you try to catch them and it hurts.

The same thing happened to me often--my old hamster was a regular acrobat would learned how to climb cages.
In any case, I find that I mostly found him in "burrows" of sorts. That means, check behind couches, the TV, etc. You might even find him sleeping somewhere since they're nocturnal. In any case, good luck!

Put out your hamsters favorite food(probably would be sunflower seeds) Hamsters are nocturnal so your best bet would be to try to catch him at night but incase he comes out during the day, leave his food out all the time.

ok save calm ! that's precisely what to do ! as I somewhat have misplaced lots of my rodents, and continuously get them bak with the aid of doing this. Get A Bucket , Or a extensive Bowl Or Vase. placed a lot of seed, in it and it well-known treats, and a few bedding. Then Use some form of ramp, {timber or anyother} and lean it up against the bucket , bowl, or vase. and lead treats as much because it. stay remote from it, go away the room for awhile. and quickly u will come bak to a happy, FED gerbil :D desire i helped. {this won't injury UR GERBIL in any way}

that happened to me. Fortunately my hamster got trapped in the basement in a barrel. I suggest getting his food put it in a deep heavy bucket. then put a piece of wood that he can use to climb into the bucket. hopefully he will climb into the bucket and not be able to climb out
