I am on the everyday pill, with 3 rows of yellow pills and one row of white. I was wondering if the white pills protected you from getting pregnant or not?

Yeah well they just allow you to menstruate - The period you have on the pill is sort of a "fake" period. Look here , and read about it. Its from the "seasonale" website but it pertains to contraceptive pills in general, and they explain it well. Read question number one. http://www.seasonale.com/TakingSeasonale/FrequentlyAskedQuestions.aspx

While I have 3 rows of blue and 1 row of white. I think that the white acts as a sugar pill but I think that it still helps to prevent pregnancies.

the white pills are just there to keep your place. They are basically just sugar pills and dont protect you during the week that you should not get pregnant any ways. Some people just skip them and start with the next pack.

No, the row of white pills are worthless. There's nothing in them. You take them only because many people aren't intelligent enough to count 3 weeks on the pill, one week off for your period, then resume!

The white pills are your "off" time without the extra estrogen to give your body a chance to shed the lining that built up during the other three weeks (period)...this is part of how the pill works and you are still protected during that time like the other three weeks...I think it's 99.9% or something like that.

nope they are just sugar pills or reminder pills. you can take them if you want or you can just throw your pack away if you can remember to start up again. I've been on the pill for several years and I never take the last row and I've never gotten pregnant.

actually the white pills are nothing.. they are empty pills that are just there so that you don't get out of the habit of taking the pills everyday!

The white pills are just placebos. so your body can break from the hormones to have your period. They generally have vitamins in them I believe.

no, they are there to keep you on schedule... i don't even take them, and sometimes, to skip my period i just start a new pack of yellow instead of taking the placebo's. i rarely do it, only in the summer time when i want to go to the ocean and it happens to be on scheduled the same time as my flow.

i heart birth control pills :) haha

No, the white pills are the "placebo" week when you should generally get your period. They put those in so you won't lose track.
