If you are in a state that doesn't not allow homosexual marriage
(which is most), you cannot go to Massachusetts to get married.
If you already live there, however, you can get married
and be recognized by all of the state laws as married
(joint state taxes, spousal rights for living wills, etc.)
Your marriage will not be recognized federally (that is, you
cannot file joint federal income tax).

Some states have Civil Unions (Vermont?), but that only
gives you spousal privileges in-state and says "civil union"
all over the place, not "married".

Otherwise, Canada and overseas...

Do not expect, however, to return and have people (or the
federal or most state governments) recognize your marriage.

No, they are FAR too busy worrying that some of that
homosexual juice might rub off on them to actually consider
that the world is better off with stable state sanctioned
relationships then unstable ones.

There are lots of churches that will give you a ceremony
but that doesn't solve any of the legal issues. Good luck!

The closest place would be to go to Canada. They will perform the marriage but either way it goes the U.S. will not recognize it as a legal marriage. That sucks, I know. But at least the two of you know that you are bound together in matrimony.
