get blown to hell and back?

London bombings toll rises to 37
A series of bomb attacks on London's transport network has killed more than 30 people and injured about 700 others. BBC 7/7/2005
..and lets not forget all those blown to bits at so many subways and train stations back in the mid to late 1990's as to defy count.

I'll tell you my opinion..because their Intel..like ours..has good days and bad days. Despite all of the technology involved..it gets down to people..falable people. So bash Bush..bash the current admin...but put the death tolls side by side and you'll see..the US is
infinitely safer than ANYWHERE in the UK.

I think you'll find the number of people murdered in the US every year far exceeds the number of people murdered in the UK.
These people , of course. are murdered by their fellow countrymen so perhaps you consider them unimportant but it is the reason why your jails are so full.
9/11 was a side show compared with the number of Americans killed every year by their fellow Americansand yet nothing is done to fight that atrocity.

I am afraid I do not agree with you.

UK has been more open to immigration than US - you will find a more racially diverse population in so small a country, that you will be impressed.

Despite that I found London to be much more safer than NY, I would say. (I was there for a year just after their 7/7 bombings and travelled on the tube almost everyday). And despite a crowded city with the police carrying very few or no guns!

I also find no one hates the English as much as they hate Americans - which is why Americans are targeted more.

I would agree about your statement regards safety. The US - per ca pita - is a safer place. I'm not so sure I agree with your comment that the Brits are [supposed to be] such smart ppl, however. As you may, or may not, know the tip which led to this "bust" came from a Muslim female who was ratting out a suspicious person living near her.

Our intel sys isn't much better than any other sys - all of them are run by ppl. Some days you're the dog, some days the hydrant.

Britain has been dealing with terrorists for a long time and the IRA had its fair share of successes against the British. Of course, the SAS had their share of successes as well. And the Brits did a pretty good job in '82 with the Iranian Embassy.

Hey the Germans muffed Munich, but got some payback in Mogadishu.

In any war you have you wins and you have your losses. You just hope at the end of the day...you're the one still standing.

i would say that the answer is because airport security, both before and after 9/11, should be far tighter than most other places where bomb attacks in london occur. it has to be pretty damn tough to prevent someone from straping a bomb to their chest and walking onto a bus or a fast food joint and blowing the place to hell.

as far as your claim that the us is the safer than anywhere in the UK...that is debatable. not by me and between you and i, but by someone.

Hey man that was over a year ago, and 52 people died. Wouldn't say us Brits were lucky. I would say we are very fortunate that very precise set of circumstances lead the conclusion that an atrocity was in the final stages of operation. And thus a very major tragedy was averted.

Who said they were so smart? They did good research and investigating in this case.

You are crazy if you think we will never be attacked again. When attacked again, does that mean were not smart. No it just part of life, you can not and should not expect every attack to be stopped! Just not possible!

how about US is bigger with more resources?, but for the intelligence we have (rumored to be given from the Muslim community itself), we do do the best we can and have some of the best intelligence out there, as do you. Lets be honest i think we all wish we did not have to use that intelligence to start with !! its a real shame we all live like this, maybe one day ...:-)

eum, safer or not safer, who are you to discuss about such stupid things were it's safer or not safe....seems like you don't realise what you are talking about, those victims of 'those blowns' didn't thought that's it's safer here or less safe.......worry about other things then were it's safe or where it's not safe. today, your nowhere safe, give me one country there hasn't been a terroristic attack.....seems you are a little bit too obsessed by 'america's power'........like more americans are....
