I don't think we played into his hand because I think we had similar interest. One hand washed the other. We are both opportunist, bin laden wanted his holy war but bush wanted his to. It is more like bin laden played into our hands. Don't think because he is a terrorist that he is more of danger to us then we are to him. We could take him out if we wanted to. Right now is just the begin of our little experiment. Once we have no need for a bin laden there will be no more bin laden. The US always wins. How do you think we got this far.

you have point, however hitler had the similar intent but by a different route, freedom of religeous teaching is the price we may pay for having a democracey, if you allow the terrorist to win ,if you get on with your life and put the resources in to stop the fanatic the meglomaniac, the stupid and the martyrs, then we share a common goal that terrorist like bin laden and his merry men will never understand or defeat, guns never changed a point of veiw ,only words can do that. Osama has planned and continues to plan on the destruction of Americans through terror. This has been thwarted once more and his Alqueda may be growing in number but has been confronted by our men and women in uniform, on the battle field, not here at home by civilians. His army has faced miserable losses and he himself commands from a cave, in hiding. He now fight solders, this is not his intention. He speaks of martyrdom but in the end he would come out of the cave with his hands in the air just like the big talker Hussein. It is far better to have them fight our brave and competent solders than target our civilian population.
Unlike Mr Roboto I do not regret the downfall of Sadam.

The Soviets face a similar question, they kept the Balkans under an iron fist for decades - preventing the muslims and Christians from fighting in Serbia and Bosnia. Osama doesn't want sectarian fighting, he wants an orthodox islamic republic established on the Arabian Penninsula.

Man... I could write for hours on this if I had the time.
Al Queda's plan (speculation of course...) is to throw the US into turmoil, economically, emotionally, and politically...
... can you remember a time when the country has been so split, so financially screwed, and so paraniod?
So... you tell me... have we played into their hands? Yeah... I think so.

I think so. We created the new Terrorist haven in Afghanastan. We have also minimized the effectiveness of the US milatary by over stretching the resource.

No, Bin Laden has no life.......he's hiding in a hole
somewhere. I don't think that's what he had in
mind in the beginning. We'll get him someday.
