during the oracle installation the system by defaultly loads scott and tiger as user name and password. If the oracle is installed on your system then go to programs see whether oracle is in the program line up if it is there then in the options go to create database click install and after installing create database go to programs oracle select sql plus and then type scott tiger. If it doesn't work then your user id is set as system and password is set as : manager by default
Note: After installing create database your user name and password is shown on a window box.

Whats the error message you are getting? (Add the Error message in the additional details).

If you have installed Oracle personnel edition, start the database and then try to login as scott/tiger using Oracle SQL*Plus.

In distributed environment, check the tnsnames.ora settings, ping the server, if you get response, try to access scott/tiger using Oracle SQL*Plus client.

It needs to be stored on hard-drive. Once installed, it should definitely work using the username: scott and password: tiger
as default.

My experience.
