superhero costume and origin?

I have a new superhero i made up. His name is the Element. He is a teenage boy who lives in a city called Lakeside. He has control and can manipulate all the known elements on earth. I have one problem though. I need an origin and a costume idea

Here's an idea that you can use to create this superhero of yours and you can either use the Elemental/Elementus (which sounds better but then again it is your superhero).

The Element or the Elemental is the son of a famous scientist who lost his wife during childbirth caused by a strange radiation in which the scientist made contact with a piece of meteor embeded in a cave in Greece. The Elemental first discovered his powers one day when he was walking home one day from school in where he witnessed a robbery taken place by one of his father's friends shops in Lakeside City. He came by to investigate when one of the robbers witnessed the young man and try to silence him by pulling a gun on him. The robber fired the weapon and the bullet was going towards the Elemental/the Element. Whether it was fear or instinct he raised his hands creating an invisible barrier of air which cause the bullet to richocet. Everyone who witnessed this event were in shocked and then he created another invisible barrier of air that knocked out both of the robbers. The young man didn't understand how he knocked out those robbers or how those powers came to pass and panicked and left the scene of the incident.

Later on that evening, the father's friend came to visit the young man who saved his life talked to him and promised that he would keep his secret safe and will not tell his father of the incident . The shopkeeper also told the police that someone else protect him and knocked out the would be robbers.

You can make the elemental either a parahuman or a mutant. If I were you make him a mutant but don't have him join any X-men related schools.

His costume should be goggles (made of air)
His costume should be blue (water)
His boots should be brown or tan (earth)
His gauntlets should be orange or red (fire)
His belt should be made of gold with the "E" symbol

Well, from what I know about superhero origins, they usually start out as a nobody and through some tragic or nuclear event they transform or become a superhero. So try having your superhero being electrified or maybe being bitten by something. That's how it usually goes. Does it have to be a guy, or can you make a lady superhero? There's not too many, so it might be fun to create a back story for a female heroine instead.

Why not make him a mutant? Or ooo better yet how about he can be pure energy and he ventures to earth and makes a body for himself combined with say electricity, force and another element, then he soilfies himself with those elements...hmm I don't know does that sound alright? Oh, and I wanted to say that the name Element would probably sound better for a girl. I don't have a costume idea, sorry. Good luck with your character though!

You need to work a little harder. There is already a superhero known as Element Lad - Jan Arrah of Trom. Power of elememt transmutation in DC Comics Legion of Superheroes. Google Element Lad and you can read all about him.

He's the son of a chemist, who accidentally got exposed to the radiation from some Uranium 238, mixed with some other chemicals in the lab, in a freak accident. His costume could have a symbol from the periodic table on his chest, maybe in red or fluorescent purple.

alrighty. he was exposed to ultra doses of differing elements while on an archaeological dig. He is wrapped in the periodic table, given he has control of all elements. Whenever he needs to control one, that part of the table lights up and he is surrounded by that element's "aura", creating an opportunity for you to vary him graphically.

his costume should be a black lab coat and he wears shiny lab goggles to hide his identity and a titanium pocket protector(ok i'm going a bit too far with that one), as for a back story have him be an aging scientist who had to pull a spock and go into a test chamber to stop an experiment of his from exploding, and instead of dieing he got super powers.
