For 10 points:
An easy, and very professional way is: run "RUN" from start menu; type "msconfig" ; choose the "startup" option ; take the check mark off.
You can up to double the speed of your machin by taking the check mark off services you absolutely don't need, like, floppy swaap, error reporting service, etc.

you can stop it by turning off the auto load or real time protection.
if you want to stop it all together just uninstall it. (If your a IT person then go to services and take it off auto and just stop it there. Dont try this if your not a IT person. )

Right click on the MCAfee icon and choose "disable".
