Yes. Not for long. Depends who performed it and how tense you were at the time.

Smear Test Pain Afterwards

No it does not hurt at all. The doctor and a nurse will be in the room with you. Any good doctor will abide by your wishes as to whether or not your mom stays also. You will lay on an examining table and place your legs in stirrups. The doctor will drape you with a sheet and place an instrument called a speculum inside your vagina. This is not painful at all -especially if you relax. Then he or she will take a swab from your cervix and place the smear on a slide. You will not feel this at all and will likely not even know it is being done. Thanks to your mom for taking you considering your history. Cancer of the cervix is one of the most easily cured cancer if you catch it early. It is a shame more people do not do their yearly exams.

My wife was very sore after having a smear performed, but the pain was simply caused by the female doctor being overly clumsy... she was told by work colleagues (she worked in a hospital at the time), that, carefully done, it should not hurt.
