My great uncle past away last month. He was married into our family and has been married to my great aunt for 47 years. Upon his death we learned he had a previous marriage. Tragicly he lost his first wife in an accident after only 4 years of marriage. Well, when his first wife past away he bought himself a plot beside her so that he could be buried next to her. After 47 years of marriage to my aunt, he wished to be buried beside is first wife. Our family was a little shocked by his decision, but truely loved and respected him. My great aunt has alzheimer's disease and really isn't too coherent. So the family isn't sure if she is or was aware of this situation. Although I respect his decision to be buried where he chooses, it got me to thinking. I pray I never have to deal with a situation like this. But if I did, what would I do? What would be right? To be respectful of the spouses that were so loved? Any thoughts?

Its pretty shocking that he would choose the one he was only with 4 yrs but he lost her tragically. It wasn't like they grew apart and divorced. He must have loved her a great deal and lost her after only 4 yrs. Maybe he made a promise to her at her coffin not knowing he would marry someone else for 47 yrs. If he was a great man and you all liked him dont let this bother you so much. After all the person that would probably hurt by it the most doesn't even know what is going on.

fulfill his wishes just as simple as that.. his 1st wife was before ur aunt, it's not like he cheated or deceived her.. for all u know he discussed this w/the great aunt already..

when ur great aunt passes, bury her next to her husband.. don't worry bout what others think.. fulfilling his wish if u don't like it would be the right thing to do...

with his wishes .. if you loved him that much do as he asked ... as far as where to bury your aunt, he probably should have left those wishes as well ... on the other side of him if there is room, and hopefully their kids would be buried near by
