Some claim not to be but from a lot of what I have learned, if they are not violent themselves, they are certainly tollerant of those that are. For a religion that claims over 1.2 billion followers, very few of those that claim to be peaceful speak out or take any actions toward those that are.
A significant part of the Muslim world is operating in about the 700 AD era yet. Waring factions, etc. Morally, ethically and socially the religion is stuck back about 1300 years ago. Times were different then. The rest of the world has advanced to what we know today and a lot of the Muslim world has not. This might explain some of why Islam appears so violent.
The Koran talks a lot about warfare, fighting, dealing with the enemy etc. I understand the profit Mohammad's claim to fame was being a warrior. For Muslims to emmulate a warrior and then have your holy book containing so much violence, (not that the Bible does not have some in it) does not bode well for the image of Islam.
Lastly, when looking at what children, from a very early age, are taught in the schools of some Arab nations, they can not help be grow up to be violent. They are indoctrinated that violence is alright, as long as it is targeted toward the proper people; in the right direction.

Muslims are not inherently violent but consider the fact that if you are a child and you are growing up and some one kills your father or your mother of the whole family in front of your eyes what will you do ? Muslims in Iraq , Muslims in Lebnon , Muslims in Afghanistan they all are fighting because their freedom was taken away from them set them free and stop going after muslims they will stop being violent

People are products of their upbringing. They often turn violent because of violent surroundings. I don't know why the US and other countries haven't understood this -that people don't like to be bombed. Superpowers think that going to war brings peace. Bombing people, especially when civilians are involved, almost always has the reverse affect.
On the other hand, there are those that believe that ALL people are inherently violent. People are animals. Furthermore, it is religion and/or moral beliefs that subdue them. Those that don't have clear understanding of morality - religious based or otherwise - tend to be violent.

I agree. The Iraq warfare is the most important get at the same time and the shown actuality that this usa has no separation of Church and state makes that count number worst. ask your self who got here up with the, leave bibles in motel rooms rule. i'm no longer hostile to Christians and that i dislike Muslims who kill as well, both are equivalent in that context. besides the undeniable fact that the ironic ingredient is that all and distinctive the visibility the media supplies to Muslims and the label they provide them as being terrorist, is under no circumstances utilized to persons who terrorize and kill diverse quantities of persons. i recognize for a shown actuality that if we were to opposite the region, then American civilians would not be said as casualties of warfare, yet victims of hate. This bias isn't coming right away from human beings yet is positioned into peoples minds with the help of reinforcement and consistent mind washing. What human beings want to do is hit upon undemanding strategies to be un-bias and examine out both area of the tale. in spite of everything, It takes 2 palms to clap thanks for this put up.

no-i believe some PEOPLE are inherently more violent than others-although religion can be an influence (though many things can be) however if you just take a look at children (even those raised in the same family) some can be more athletic, more outgoing, more level-headed, more emotional, more apathetic, more _______(fill in the blank). whatever qualities one is born with or posseses (whether "good" or "bad") it is ultimately up to the individual to CHOOSE how they are going to act/react.

No, I don't think that Muslims are inherently violent. No more than we are. But you'll find violent people in any group.

any and all religions have people that are extremists and that try to use their religion to advocate violence and killing.
Look at the abortion clinic bombers here in the US- they used their religion and " God's anger " to make themselves feel better about killing doctor's and women that were in the abortion clinics at the time of the bombing.
Look at the number of people over the years that have killed their children thinking GOD had told them to do so.
You can find an excuse for any behavior if you twist the truth enough. That does not mean that the god of any religion actually told anyone to act that way- the people are just using him as an excuse to carry out their own twisted plan.

no, not at all. it's not the religon that turns people violent. It's the violent person that has turned to religon. If Osama was christian instead of Muslim, he would be the same person. Still a terrorist.
and before a christian jumps all over my response, there are christian terrorists bombing abortion clinics day after day. this makes them no better than Osama.

When you group all Muslims together I would have to say no. But there are certain elements of Muslims that are extremely violent, they are taught that way.

Muslims do not occupy other peoples' land, Muslims don't bomb houses with people living in them (daily), Muslims do not call other peoples' religions names.
Instead of turning to Muslims with your blame go to the source of evil : those who do things said above.
