You should check if your local library has an e-book lending program. That is the only legal way to download such a new novel and it is likely the only place that you will find it for free anyway.

Most likely it would be illegal to download "Twelve Sharp" for free. That book is still under copyright.

You might want to check with your local library, though. Some libraries are starting to "check out" audio and text computer files that "self destruct" in two or three weeks' time. It's like a regular library loan, except all digital.

Libraries can check out books for free because they originally purchase the book and don't give out multiple copies at a time. (It's a copyright principal called "fair use" - the same concept that lets you give away or sell any copy of a book you own.)

The problem with file sharing is that only one person paid for the work - and yet multiple people are reaping the benefits. That's not fair to the author or any of the rest of the people who depend on selling books for their livelihood.

I hope that you can't. It's hard enough for an author to make money without a first run fiction book being downloaded! Go to the library and check it out!
