If you remove the catalytic converter and do not replace it you:

1) violate federal law and subject you and anyone who works on your vehicle to MAJOR fines

2) leave your exhaust system disconnected, which will make the car extremely loud and may allow poisonous carbon monoxide fumes into the passenger area.

3) depending on the vehicle may cause poor performance

4) may allow cold air to come into the engine when it is turned off, causing damage.

It is not recommended at all

If the converter is blocked, it can reason the engine to overheat and carry out slightly actual harm. The converter is a cone form cloth with tiny holes. If the converter cloth cracked, it can really commence to crumple and plug up. a real caution signal is that your vehicle would not boost up as well because it used to. you really must have it fixed.

Yes it will still run, the check engine light may come on. You should never remove any equipment the vehicle came with except to replace it with new.

If it's bad for sure just gut-it !!!
Not sure what kinda car you have or how easy it is ta get to ,but
once you have it off the vehicle take a crow bar or a long metal rod and jam it down into the cat. and break up the honey comb inside. It should just crumble and turn to dust.
Now simply reinstall.
But just as "Oldcvette" said: THIS IS ILLEGAL !!!

How old is the car? Auto manufacturer's are required by law to warranty the catalytic converter for 10 years, but the dealer won't tell you that.
