yes i totally agree. even us nurses dont get 4 weeks of PAID vacation we're lucky to get 2 depending on how long we have worked under that company. even though we should have more PAID vacations cause its a stressful job..

Depends on the company you work for, the difference is that americans don't want the government telling small businesses that they have to give their employees 4 weeks of paid vacation, they'd go bankrupt. My brother works for a company in the states and he gets 30 days (work days) paid vacation and can take more unpaid days if he wants. Sounds like you have a shitty job. But I'm all for more paid vacation.

Self inflicted, who really vacations these days, always keping in contact with te office even when away, on the laptop, or cell phone, people work to support a lifestyle of big cars and bigger houses. He who dies with the most toys, is still dead

Oh, we already know that. The thing is that we have such a strong work ethic that even when we go on vacation, we take work with us, check into the office with our cell phones, etc. We can never really get away from work because work is so much of who we are.

Yeah, Europeans are also not world leaders. Someone's got to keep the world running, someone's got to make the money to by your crap. And last time I checked, plenty of us had families.
If you want to be lazy and take more vacation time then go back to your country. I'm sick of you whiny cry babies! No one's twisting your arm to keep you here! It's a free country-you're free to GO HOME!!!

I know this already. But I have recently read where some countries are thinking about reducing the amount of vacation time.

because we have allowed corporate america to pull the wool over our eyes and we keep ourselves ignorant.
many in europe get 4-6 weeks a year, and here you are lucky to get 2!
Thats one of the reasons im moving to europe - woohoo I cant wait!
Also our congress has given themselves raises over the last 9 years, yet has refused to raise the minimum wage in the same time period! Its simply ridiculous!
