how so? If two people own two cars, it's not greedy, it's just a luxury...a convenience. Then they don't have to wait for one another to get their daily errands done. My husband works south of where we live; I work north, if we only had one car, we'd be hard put to get to work on time. However, if it was a household of one person, then yes, having two cars would seem excessive. Here in SD, having your own car is almost a necessity.

...depends on how big the household is. I don't think it is greedy if a household of 5 (like my family) with 3 grown children and 2 adults, have 5 cars. It's just necessary - people need to go different places and different times.

I think one person with 3-5 cars is greedy. But I don't see how it would be greedy to have more than one car for 2 adults or etc. It was paid by their own money, they pay the insurance, and it takes up their property. I don't think it's greedy.

More than 1 car per household member is greedy. But 1 car for the entire household? No- not at all!

It depends, If there is only one person staying on there own i don't see the need to have any more than the one car, if there is a large family all over the driving age then i don't think its greedy to have one car per household as they all might need a car for personal needs.

Yes, but it's irrelevant until there are additional taxes for second cars. That would be hard, because a household may consist of two working people who need to commute in opposite directions. If they lived alone, they wouldn't be considered a household. At the end of the day, none of us can drive more than one car at a time! Also, if you keep a more economical car for local journeys, you're helping reduce pollution.

No.

We have 2 cars in our household, because both me and my spouce work at different job location.

Besides that I would consider that greedy only in following situation: If government or some entity is giving free financial aid for residents to buy a car and you need only 1 car but bought more than 1 to abuse the financial aid, That is greedy.

No in todays time 2 vehicles in every driveway as become a common place. How many house wholes only have one wage earner, not to many any more, since both parents in allot of homes need to work, or drive kids to activities, shop, what ever, a second even a 3rd vehicle is sometimes needed. Drive around and look at how many drive-ways only have one car. there's not that many. Child turns 16, whats a car because they need a job, because all their friends have jobs, and cars, and they don't want to be made fun of. Their school grades may go down but they get $6.00 a hour for working 4 to 6 hours a night, their grades may suffer but they have a sharp looking car.

No, It depends on their needs. Some people drive small cars for everyday, and a SUV or Truck for family outings, towing/hauling, work or recreation. Commuters with small cars use large cars for family travel, church, whatever.

Only special interest groups, and the news media want you to feel guilty about having more than one car per household. The same folks that think burning a Hummer is somehow good for the environment. The thick, black, smoke should be a clue.

How can something you worked to pay for, be being greedy?

When I work and buy something for myself I don't regard it as being greedy. Greed is having too much of something, letting it go to waste, instead of sharing it. That's greed.

Two or more cars per household is not greed, people don't work in the same place and need their cars.

I think its quite natural for everyone to want their own car. Not all households are the same, so we can't generalise. The last UK household I lived in had three adults who worked different hours at different places, had different hobbies and different friends, so anything other than one car each would have been totally impractical.

However, we have to consider the environmental issues, and any car owner can do his bit to contribute by walking whenever possible, instead of using the car to nip down the shop, and also by sharing whenever possible, even though a little inconvenience might be insurred.
