I have dark under eye circles and some blemishes. I would like to cover up just those spots with concealer, but I hate wearing foundation. Can I just apply the concealer and blend it in well or is there more to it than that, do I need other makeup? I'd like some techniques on how to disguise blemishes and undereye circles. Thanks :)

You need a foundation. Literally.

Of course you can! Any Cosmopolitan magazine will tell you that. It's a great idea for the summer, because rather than masking your whole face, you're just covering your problem areas. It helps your skin breathe! In the summer, it's a great low-maintenance idea, especially if you're going to the beach or the pool or something. And, since you'll be sweating (from the heat), the foundation will probably come off easily. Do just what you said--blend it really well! And if you want, you can always use a loose powder on your whole face after applying your concealer. It will make your skin tone appear very even (if it isn't already) and it will definitely help blend the concealer and make it look natural (if you're having problems blending).

I have this stuff from Clinique that comes in a tiny little see-through turquoise bottle that contains salicylic acid. It actually forms a clear film-like barrier between your blemish and your makeup. So it heals the blemish while making it easier to cover up!

You don't have to wear foundation. I would choose something with some light-reflecting particles for under your eyes. Revlon has a Skinlights Illusion Wand that works well as an undereye concealer, so does Neutrogena.

As far as blemishes, you might want to try one of the mineral powder concealers. I mostly hate mineral makeup, but you can blend the concealer with a brush and it isn't greasy so won't clog your pores. Go to www.everydayminerals.com, you'll get a concealer sample as well as the foundation and it goes a long way.

If your concealer blends really well then you can. But for the most part, just apply a powder that matches your skin so that you look more even.

I have the worst undereye circles. What I do is just put a swipe of concealer under each eye and then use a powder. I never use eyeliner, because it tends to emphasize the dark circles. Then, I draw the attention away from under the eye by highlighting other parts of my face.

If your dark circles and blemishes are very bright, PLEASE don't cover them with concealer!!! Concealer is to even out your skin tone, but not to literally colour correct.
You can and should get a colour corrector pallette. Green for red blemishes (as red and green neutralize eachother-- think back to art 101 :P) and orange for the blue or violet if you have dark circles. These won't blend to your skin, so then you add concealer. If you only spot-use concealer, it should blend to your skin tone now (as there's no bright colour underneath it to make the area stand out) and you don't have to use it all over if you don't want. Now powder it lightly with transluscent powder to keep it from melting off with your body heat/sweat. VOILA! A flawless face.

Just remember: foundation also has SPF in it, so if you skip an all over foundation, don't forget to slap on the sunscreen.

Sure, I do it all the time. Foundation just causes more blemishes and skin problems. Just make sure you find a color of concealer that REALLY matches your skin well. You might need to have more than one color on hand in case you spend a lot of time in the sun some days.

Concealer works best if you let it dry for about a 30 seconds before blending it in to the surrounding area.

Yes you can wear concealer without foundation. What I do is use a lighter concealer than my skin tone to cover the blemishes & circles then I take a liquid powder foundation that is slightly darker(no more than two shades) & apply it over the concealer.

of course you can.for better results try some solid foundation(i have one really good from rimmel)....just apply with the stick on your blemishes and smudge it.and make sure is really really your skin tone cuz if not it may look disagreable.
also remember that green neutralises red and yellow neutralises purple.so...you can buy some concealer in two colours....a skin colour and green for zits or red spots on your face or skin colour and yellow...for the purplish lines under your eyes.

You can try a concelear that's matches you skin tone but if they are vary dark then you should try a yellow concealer with a light foundation over it. Mary Kay offers a great line of concealers and we also offer a medium coverage foundation or a sheer coverage. if you have any question just email me from my site www.marykay.com/kfrench2006

Just make sure u blend it in well and no one will be the wiser...I would recommed keeping it with you through out the day since u don't have foundation you will need to reapply more then usual. Hope that Helps!!

Concealer is fine just get a color that is closest to your natural skin tone then apply an all over loose or pressed face powder this way it mattes the concealer & any oilyness you may have.
