I don’t believe there are “liberal” ideas and “conservative” ideas. Nothing actually makes an idea/belief liberal or conservative, other than each political party supports it or does not.

My theory is: No idea is liberal or conservative, just right or wrong. If you don’t worry about believing something is “liberal” or “conservative” then you are more likely to believe what is actually correct. Basically, there is no political spectrum but just a series of correct and incorrect ideas, which each political party vies for in order to strengthen their power.

I think this idea is simple yet not obvious to many.

You are far and few between my friend

very intelligent and I agree.

If you take your Theory and apply this to what we see in the realm of politics today. It can be assumed what you percieve to be is not obvious to many as most vie for a party to have the power.

I love this question and this theory it is a shame more people dont think as you do. I would shake your hand on your thought process alone

Cheers to you Sir

I disagree. There are certainly liberal and conservative concepts that each party tries to adhere to. Often, due to various factors, the parties end up supporting something they wouldn't normally support, but that doesn't mean there is a change in the underlying ideology.

For instance, Liberals have traditionally supported bigger government and higher taxes as a form of socialist mandate. However, they currently want the government to be reduced and for spending to go down. This is because they percieve the unfettered growth of our current government as an attempt by the GOP to grab power and turn the US into a police state.

you are right and there is only right and wrong .People tend to look at this as ascribing a label to a particular set of ideas .
liberals believe it is resonable to take excessive wealth away from the people who collected it and redistribute it .
WHILE conservatives believe you must go out and gt your own pile of cash and the other guys problems are not his .
THIS leaves the real politicians in charge and they are screwing the hellout of all of us .
WHAT do the say 2% of the nation controls 90% of it wealth .THATS 50 states and 6 million people to control it all .THATS 120,000 peple per state that have all the wealth .WITH 5 major city's per state thats 22,000 per city .
I can almost believe this ,that 2% of the population controls the other 98% NOW OF THE 98% 10 PERCENT OF THEM MUST BE THE MANAGERS AND AND CEOS OF SOME OF THESE BUSINESSES .THATS ANOTHER 120,000 PEOPLE WITH DECSENT INCOMES IN THE COMMUNITY .
this SEEMS ABOUT RIGHT .150,000 OR SO PEOPLE IN EACH COMMUNITY THAT ARE DOING OK AND THE OTHER 850,000 OR SO JUST GETTING BY .
Does any of this make sense to any one but me .MOST of us should be voting to get liberals in office if we ever want to climb a little higher out of debt and be able to relax more and enjoy life .
.IF i told you how to beat them at there own game you would laugh at how easy it is .
YOU must begin to think like a farmer and plant some seeds .EVEn if you are hungry you must leave the seeds in the ground and let them mature once this has happened you will have enough food and plenty more seed to produce a new crop each year from now on .EXCEPT for one problem the government keeps you from doing this because they are run by the people with all the seeds today and you are never given an extra ear of corn to plant so you can never have your own food and must always work for the providers of the seeds lol ,.

I agree that political debate over certain ideas is colored by the perception as to wether they are liberal or conservative-- people on either side of the political spectrum line up in the manner that they're expected to rather than considering the idea on their merits.

On the other hand some ideas are more likely to match the ideals espoused by liberals or conservatives. And as such labeling them as liberal or conservative doesn't particularly bother me.
