Many people (about 10) use the computer terminal where I live. When I came back from vacation, the printer would not print. I'm sure it is still wired properly, so it must be a 'command' problem (I guess). When I click 'print', though, absolutely nada occurs (not even an error message). Any suggestions on how to fix this. Thanks much! Oh yeah: nobody in the house recalls any 'wrongdoing' on ther part.

1) Assuming this is a USB printer, are you running XP? IF so, with computer running, printer on and all wires plugged into computer, unplug the USB wire to printer....there should be a bong/bong from the computer. NOW< plug it back in and wait...a "new hardware" sign should pop up in the lower right hand corner. Right click and tell the computer to find drive, and all should be ok.
2) IF the computer cannot find the driver, reload driver that came with computer. That should let the computer find the printer.
3) IF that doesn't work, go to "control panel", click on Printer and Faxes... a list of printers should come up...make sure the printer is checked....DEFAULT. Go to printer, right click and delete all documents waiting to be printed, delete. NOW, printer should work. IF not, you have a printer failure. Click "test print" and see if it works. IF NOT, time to buy a new printer...they are inexpensive at worst. Good luck

You're sure it's not a wire problem? The cable is properly connected from your computer to the printer?

If so, perhaps you need to reinstall the driver. If you don't have the original software discs, you can download the driver from the website of your printer manufacturer.

check control panel>printers

see if you have 2 copies of the same printer, it happens sometimes esp when you disconnect the printer from the port/usb and reconnect it again and the computer detects "another" printer. the 2 copies of the same printer are having problem figuring out who's who. so uninstall/delete one, and things should be fine if that is the case. hope it helps

If a hardware/peripheral device isn't working, then start from scratch. Reconnect/install everything and it should work like new ;).
