70's: Gundam with Amuro Ray, Star Blazers, UFO Robo Grendizer, Tekkaman Blade, Galaxy Express 999, Rose of Versailles
80's: Macross or Robotech, Saint Seiya, Hokuto no Ken, Mainson Innoku, Urusei Yatsura, Kimagure Orange Road, Bubble Gum Crisis, Captain Tsubasa, God Sigma, Voltron, Touch, Akira, Yoroiden Samurai Troopers, Patlabor, Cat's eyes, City Hunter, Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs, Project A-Ko.

Try to catch some classics like Voltes 5, Voltron lions or Mazinger Z. My absolute favorites were the Macross saga ( Robotech here in the US ) and Armored Trooper Votoms. If you are able to get it in Japanese w/ english subtitles, then it would be a better viewing experience. Have fun.

Actually Astro Boy is the first anime ofcourse in black & white. Second one came out on the 80's

I don't like old anime shows they look like old disney cartoons. But Lupin the third is one speed race... god I have to stop or I'll be sick.. :-P
