I just moved into a new house and no matter how clean I keep the place - I have these four legged roomies. I don't want to use poison because those critters will die where I can't find them and stink. Any suggestions on getting rid of them?

chances are if it was empty they took over and will leave once people move in. eliminate any food source. try and find out where they are coming in so u can block the hole. check under your sink for holes. they have hav- a-hart traps which catch them so u can take them down the street to the woods somewhere instead of killing them. u set one when u go to bed & check immediately the next morning. dont forget about them if they solid ones though because they will suffocate if left there too long. make sure theyre closed when not in use. if u just kill them which is mean others will still keep coming back. u have to find their entrance and block it. if its an odd shape steel wool will work. sometimes strong scents such as cayenne pepper, moth balls, or peppermint extract will work because they hate the smell.

You're right- don't go with the poison- its hard to find them all and they DO stink! I would suggest getting a female cat. I had a mice problem and I got 2 kittens, one male and one female- I never saw a mouse again.. BUT the male cat just lays around all day- the female feline is always the hunter... so I would check into that. If you dont want to deal with training a kitten, think about adopting an adult female cat from your local animal shelter or humane society. My female cat used to bring mice right up and put them on the porch so I could throw them away. Good luck with your rodents.

Adopt a cat. I'm serious, half the other houses on my street have problems with mice and even have gophers in their yard. Not mine.

The old fashion traps work really good if you bait them with crunchy peanut butter. SNAP..they are dead.

When you see them, get to stompin' . that should do the trick. then you will only have to clean up the blood and guts.
