I've had a couple people tell me that the movie scared the daylights out of them. Why?

toto is creepy...but mostly it's the lions, tigers, bears oh my...lol

That movie is supposed to be a dream, right? Well, to me it's a scary dream. We've all had dreams that when we explain it to someone else, they say that's not scary, but they weren't there. This movie was so well done, in my opinion, with all the bright colors and kiddie stuff - but creepiness underneath it all. Others already mentioned the flying monkeys, the wicked witch's face in the crystal ball - but something that also creeped me out is when the ruby slippers are removed from the other witch's feet sticking out from under the house, and the feet curl up and slither under the house.

I'm not afraid of the Wizard of Oz, but I used to be afraid of the Wiz. That's the that has Michael Jackson and Diana Ross in it. I had nightmares about the trashcans that tried to eat the Scarecrow and the flying monkeys are awful for a child to watch!

LoL.. i LOVE that movie too. however:
the Witch is AWESOMELY scary.. her looks, her laugh, and the way her head was in the crystal ball.... shudder!
the scary monkeys... oh the way they moved, and the way their faces looked.. completely freaky!
the Great Oz (well the fake one) was reallll ugly, his brain was ginormous!
:) all in all, one of the best movies in the WORLD~ i love somewhere over the rainbow..can u Believe they almost took it out???!

I loved the movie, however, I work with a girl who is absolutely petrified of it. She hates storms, of any kind -- especially tornadoes. She also says that the "height challenged" munchkins scare her.
