I was requested by a reputable listed company in Australia to photocopy my credit card and signing a authorisation form to authorise them to make monthly deduction from my card. I was told by them that it was meant for their auditing purposes.

I need to subscribe their services due to their worldwide presence. If paying by other mode besides a credit card, I will need to give them a deposit which I doubt the recovery might be years later or never!

Anyone have any suggestions how do you handle such situation?

I have NEVER heard of a company asking for a copy of your credit card. This sounds like a scam. Why wouldn't you be able to recover your deposit? That should also raise the "SCAM" alarm.

An auditor would never require that they have a copy of your credit card. You are about to get fleeced. Whatever service they provide, there are other companies that will provide it to you legitimately. These people are scam artists looking to screw you.

All anyone needs to bill you monthly on your credit card is the account number and your permission. How do you pay for your internet provider? Mine is put on my credit card monthly, but I NEVER sent them a copy of my card.

I have NEVER been asked to do such a thing. By doing that, you are also giving them your security code on the back of the card. Does Australia have a Better Business Bureau or some type of agency that keeps record of businesses and their reputations? I just do not think that is kosher. Do some more research.

I have never heard of a reputable company asking for the hard copy of your credit card. DO NOT give to them... try looking for another company providing the same services?? Once they have the details of the card, they can do anything to it...

Don't do that. I has to be a scam. Once you do that, anyone seeing that photocopy will be able to use your credit card account.

See if they will allow you to use ":Paypal" or some other online pay service to give them money. If they refuse then I would not trust them at all and seek assistance elsewhere.
