Because they dont really like you that much so they keep their options open. If they really cared for you they would want to be with you only.

you can love your spouse intensely, passionately, never ever want to leave her. And still end up cheating on her/him.
In some cases its just because they want something they don't feel like they can get from their wife or husband. Other cases its to feel sexy and wanted again. Or they feel hurt or angry and want to get back at the spouse in some way.
It really depends on the person and the relationship. There isn't a blanket answer of, 'They cheat, so they don't love their partner anymore.' or 'they cheat, so they are like this'

If you love someone you want only whats best for them. If you love someone you would never hurt them. If you love someone you do not betray them.
So if you truly love someone you don't cheat on them.
When a person cheats they are acting in a very self centered way and not considering anyone else, not even the person they are cheating with.

Men seem to have this need to stray just for variety. It doesn't have anything to do with the person they love, just a choice they make. I feel it is genetic and many men will do it when an opportunity is in front of them.
