Had he spent as much time practicising playing football as he spent inventing, promoting and advertising the Beckham brand, I suspect he would have been a better player. David Beckham in my opinion is an enormously talented football player who's downfall has been to spend too much time chasing income from commercials and appearances and not enough time actually doing the job that he was employed to do - play football. He's probably made enough money from sponsorship and brand endorsement deals to lead the rest of his life very comfortably without the need to work. The question is will he use his talents to benefit others by helping with training the next generation of talent, or is he not that altruistic?

David Beckham s an over rated player who can't do anythig with the ball except score from frees. And even that's been slipping latley. I'm not surprised he got dropped. Did you see his performance in the World Cup? How was he made captain?

The break from the England team might do him good. It will be interesting to see how soon he gets a call back, especially if England start losing some Euro qualifiers.

Steve McClaren has to have a fresh start - an ex-captain on the team could lead to divided loyalties and would be unfair to John Terry.

I think he had a lot in him, bu the is getting old so it was in England's best interest to drop him and look to the future.
