guitar4peace: I grew up in Lawrenceburg, too. No offense to you, but I'm impartial to believing it sucks!

I believe the south is the least friendly. The south has a dark legacy of slave-owning. Owning another human being has to be just about the rudest and most unfriendly act!

I think the majority of Kentucky is friendly. Maybe not Louisville or Lexington, because of the massive amounts of people that come in and leave-Like college students. I am partial to Lawrenceburg, I grew up there and it happens to be the home of Wild Turkey Bourbon. Doesn't get much better than that.

I've been to a lot of places and the only place I encountered many unfriendly faces was New York City. I think that's due too everyone trying to do their own thing in a timely manner. They don't have time to stop and bs with you for 10-15 minutes.

Well most of the time areas that are very populated doesn't have such a intimate cozy feel is because it's so impersonal and crowded from people on the go or in a rush people become cold and hard where as smaller populated towns people can take their time and because it's so densely populated people become a little more intimate with wanting to know someone. Also a lot of states still are run with southern hospitality and northern independence and business dysfunction in cultures so with that said it's easy to see why!

Tennessee has the friendliest people. They have a beautiful state and a lot of warm, kind-hearted people. I've been all across the country and around the world and it's the BEST!

Despite their bad reputation I have always found that people in New York City are friendly. I know when to say something and when not to though. this may be the cause of people having bad encounters. If you are sitting in a diner or somewhere casual they LOVE to talk.

So pretty much the Yankee States like NY, Massachusetts, NJ, Penn, and anything in the Northeast are a bunch of *******. However the Southern States are friendly.

Sorry I've been to those southern states and they treat people from the North like crap

I hate The Yankees... They just straight up hate Yankees

I have to admit - when I left Florida for Tennessee, I was determined never to set foot back here.......but I did - When my degree is completed, I will get a job back in TN and make that my forever home.

Why - I think people from the north (I used ot be) are just so intense and driven, that they don't seem to make time for happiness in their lives.

The people in the south seem more laid back and friendly.

Yes - this is a generalization - and I have to admit that small towns anywhere are better for "niceness" than large cities - but overall - there are some states that you just wouldn't want to live in due to the people.

I agree with parts of your list, except for the fact that you can't just go labeling states as a whole. It may be better to do that with just cities.(kind of like you attempted to do) But if I did have to label a friendly state, I'd go with Texas and maybe Tennessee. And as for the not so friendly, I'd say California and Florida....but that is just based on my personal experiences in the two sates. =)

I have been to 30 of the 50 states. You are correct in stating that some are friendly, and some are not. I have found that the Friendliest state i've been in is Texas. The unfriendliest state i've been in is Minnesota
