My mom makes me do this once in a while and it is really embarassing. Especially so for those really big dogs. I try not to laugh at them. Oh, and one other thing, we don't believe in Santa.

More importantly, how does Santa feel about it? Is he afraid of dogs? What if the animal pees, poops or throws up on him. He could also be bitten. (but I guess all those things can happen with babies too.)
Personally, I would not subject my dog or Santa to it. My dog is afraid of people in uniforms and would growl at Santa and not hold still. However, if someone the pet knows dresses up as Santa, it might work out okay and yes, it would be a cute picture!

seriously? They are dumb, but some people's pets are like their kids, and as an animal lover, I would say that pet's posing with Santa is ok. But to go overboard is really dumb,as people are waiting to pose their children with Santa and the pets should be done seperatly at another location as not to upset the pet,or get it all excited.

Oh that is the SWEETEST thing in the world...I LOVE IT!
Pet's sure look a lot cuter than some of the Santa pics with kids that I've seen passed around.

Got 'em done about 3 years ago with my chocolate lab & beagle. The lab was scared to death of santa since she doesn't like hats, and the beagle crushed santa's....*cough*.....yeah. Poor guy! The pictures are cute, but once is enough!

Little over the top unless you want it as a keep sake. If you think of your pets as children and actually believe in Santa...put the cork back in the bottle.

The guy in the photo is one brave individual!
Knowing how well behaved some pets are (and aren't), I wonder how they find folks willing to pose for these pictures.

Well, as a large contributor to PETA I take serious umbrage with your term "pet" They are NOT "pets" They are our animal companions. As far as taking pictures with Santa: HAVE YOU EVER CONSIDERED THE DAMAGE TO THEIR SELF IMAGE????? You probably want to dress them up in cute little elfin clothes. I shudder at the lack of compassion that we humans have towards our animal equals.

Very much depends on what he's doing to the pet in the pic.

I think they are cute, if the pet doesn't mind.
If puppy or kitty is shy and scared it's just cruel.
Also cruel is dressing the pet up in a little elf costume...
