In many patients the skin is slightly pink for 1-2 days; in others (generally, fairer patients) there is no pinkness. Hairs begin to fall out in 5-14 days and may continue to do so for weeks. Hairs may be more rapidly removed by rubbing, scrubbing, or plucking (with no discomfort after 5 days) if one desires to speed up this part of the process. It is not necessary to do so. Not all hairs may fall out; only those in anagen (growth) phases of the cycle (this is the part of the cycle that is susceptible to the laser) will fall out. One cannot tell by looking which hairs are in growth phase.

Find out what machine is being used. If you have dark coarse hair most will work well but if it is fine then you need an alexandrite laser. Candela produces an alexandrite laser and on their website there is a physician locator. The problem is often operator error. IPL or intense pulsed light machines are often used by salons or spas and they may not produce good results. The IPL's often don't work as well as true Lasers but it also depends upon the type of laser. The Gentlelase Plus by Candela is a very good laser and Candela will only sell their machines to doctors, not salon owners or estheticians.

I had it done and it didn't work. I was told by the techs that you have rows of hair folicals in your skin Then they gave me this example... a sharks mouth has rows of teeth, when they lose one another will take it's place. Sooooo, you have to keep going back till all the hair follicals are gone. It will take awhile and alot of $$$. I gave up because it was getting too costly, but if your determined and have the $$$ then keep going. Good luck.
