who is your favorite hero?

My favorite REAL-LIFE hero, looking back on this answer, would have to be my dad. I still call him every week or so in Florida from North Dakota when I live. Even though he's 80 and has had several strokes, when my family and I visited him in Florida last month, even though it's hard for him to get around he's lost very little of his joy in living. I daresay a lot of the characteristics I describe below and what makes my dad a hero. But like most children, I didn't understand it when I was growing up under his roof.

I'd have to say my favorite FICTIONAL hero is Captain America. Here's a guy who has no superpowers, but he's trained himself to be the best human he can be and doesn't resort to gimmicks of the resources of a vast fortune like Batman does.

He's also the hero I find the most relatable; despite the fact he often sounds stuck reliving World War II, Captain America never loses sight of the American Dream -- even if you're not American, that translates into our personal best, no limit to what we can have or achieve.

And he's always consistent with himself, never willing to become a government puppet or admit to any feelings other than his own. He's an inspiration, one that even the most physically powerful beings (e.g. Thor and Iron Man) look to for leadership. He's the hero's hero (and sometimes the villain's hero) because come what may, what's just doesn't change when the laws do. Too many "heroes" today seem to be heroes for convenience or personal glory; take that away from Captain America, and he'd still fight the good fight. That's what makes him (and my dad) my favorite, and the best!

Thanks!

Batman
Unlike most of the other superheros he did not have superpowers, yet still was able to save people. He made the decision to become a hero. (I mean if you had superpowers it is almost required that you become either a superhero or villain.) He also had the cool car and gadgets.
