I'm sure some of you work lots of hours each week in the office and feel a little under appreciated.. like I do right now. lol..

It's times like this that I want to just drop my office job, travel the world and bartend where ever I go (if money was no object) or even just bartend full time - but that would just be a waste of my overpriced education wouldn't it?

I guess we are all just servants of our overpriced education. We put up with crap just because we feel the need to justify getting the education and to repay all the student loans. It makes one wonder if life would be better without the guilt from the overpriced education.

A sincere appreciation should be a big paycheck. A small pat on the back, a "good job, Smith," or a free lunch just cheapens your hard work.

We have what's called Employee Recognition Day where I work once, a year. If you have been working for 5,10,15,20 25, and so on you get recognized at a special luncheon in your honor. You also get a booklet in which to choose a gift out of.
When I made my tenth year I picked out a CD player combo.
You could play Cd's,mp3's and cassettes, it also had a radio.
Next year will be my 15th. So I am getting my just dues.
We also get our picture taken with the president of the company and printed up in our company news pamphlet.

I'd say that I feel appreciated some what.

i understand where your coming from..under-paid and under-appreciated makes us hate what we do for a living..i TOTALLY agree on the traveling note though..who doesnt want to do that?..but instead of bartending(which i kinda wanted to pursue myself) i want to be a photographer and travel the world taking pictures of nature and life in 3rd world countries like national geographic type of sh*t..and ofcourse natural beautiful models along the way : )
oh btw, have you ever seen dirty jobs on the Discovery Channel? other than being an interesting show, it really makes you appreciate where you eork at now.

If its leaving you frustrated, you SHOULD go barteding - lesser money might easily be worth the peace of mind and job satisfaction.

I just took a job that pays less than my previous job - but like it better...

I feel the same way - sounds like fun!

They sort of appreciate me, but I am just bored with the whole thing - it's a dead end anyway...

no one is EVER truly appreciated at work, only taken advantage of. if you are then it's probably some stupid ribbon or dollar store certificate printed out in black and white for you to display in your nifty little cubicle. work appreciation doesn't exist as far as I'm concerned
