Rowling has revealed that Dumbledore is, indeed, dead. At RCMH reading, she stated that Dumbledore is "definitely dead, and that we all need to start moving through the five stages of grief." During her announcement, she made a specific reference to a site entitled DumbledoreIsNotDead.com.The site, in defense, has stated that it could be another one of her famous red-hearings, and has also stated that "If he 'really is dead', that doesn't rule out the fact that he could come back in some other way, like as a ghost, or interact via his portrait."

If Harry is to get on with his destiny to figure out his family pass Dumbledore had to die get Harry to leave the school and head on this path of descovery. After all of those people who Harry have cared for up until this time have passed away. Harry is now force to look for the Hoarxes and destroy Voldermort. The final battle between Harry and Voldermort might be fought a Hogsworth as the descentants of both family duel it out. As you know there is a chance that Harry is a Gyiffindor remember what Dumbledore said that only a true Gyiffindor could take the sword out the hat in book two of the series. As you know too those in the house of Gyiffindor hate the member of the house of Slytherin so why not have the final battle between the two descendants of each founder to fight it out at Hogsworth.

i looove Dumbledore.. the only reasons i was slightly disappointed w/ book 6 was cuz she stuffed all this Horcrux crap in the last minute! i mean, dumbledore had waaay more "cool" potential to be more Indiana Jones-ish than she was able to show in book 6. =T... that's why, even tho i guess he died.. my idea was that, if there is something so Evil as a Horcrux to split up the soul, i think there HAS to be a Good "horcrux" type thing that bonds Dumbledore to a Fawkes, the phoenix! that was a huge thread throughout the whole series, of dumbledore and being connected to a Phoenix. there has to be something about him.. at any rate, his portrait is up in the Headmaster's room, so he can use his knowledge for stuff i suppose.
remember, he told harry, i will never truly leave this school until no one there is loyal. and yet, there are still many loyal people at the school...and at least ron, hermione and harry. i think maybe dumbledore did this in order to make Harry stronger..and later he will still be able to help again!

My opinion is that Dumbledore will come back one way or another in Book 7. You said it yourself, Dumbledore was supposed to be the best wizard in the world. I don't think he would have died without a cause. A hidden plot is most definitely feasible. I don't think it is out of character or context. Rowling has never failed to surprise me at least once in each book, though I will admit that that was the biggest shock.

Yes! I don't think he's really dead. I think it's a ploy to allow Albus time to regroup and come to Harry's aid in the end. I mean think about it. Snape does the deed; Snape who has NOT killed Harry in all this time despite their mutual loathing. He could just have easily done him in at the time of Dumbledore's 'death' and if we look even further, the only people to have contact with his body are his most loyal and trusted. Even his burial is 'Magic'. and we all know that with Magic, anything is possible. SO yes, I agree.

I am not sure what to expect from the next book, I was really dissappointed with the ending.
But last week a lot of famous authors were asking the author of Harry Potter not to kill him in the next book.
I can't wait til the next book.

I agree totally. Snape shouldn't have been able to do that, and i think that J.K. Rowling was just getting desperate on what to do. The entire world is waiting to see what she writes and that has to be a lot of pressure. Possibly, she was just trying to set herself up for a final book instead of prolonging it more than she wanted to. But yes, very much so out of character, and i doubt that he will come back in full body and spirit. possibly spirit or memories, or some type of magic thing... sirius too.

even if dumbledore was/is the best wizard in the world, there still isn't any counter curse to the adavra kadavra curse. ( which shockingly resmbles abra kadavra...) i think dumbledore is really dead, and that is why harry will probably die in book 7...i would honestly be more upset if she killed off all the weasleys and not harry. i think hermione will die in book 7, but i won't really mind that much if hermione dies.

My theory is that the phoenix brought him back to life and he's currently in hiding.
I do agree about Snape being a spy again. he's a double agent through and through.

Less than a week ago JK herself has told fans that Dumbledore is definitely dead and won't come to life again!
And oh yes, the death was planned and Snape is still a good guy, but I can't believe people are so blind to recognize this just by first reading.... !!!
Dumbledore dying with his last words pleading?
Hell, no!
It was not "Severus, Severus, please don't kill me..."
It was definitely a "Severus, Severus, please... KILL ME!!!!!!"
