If you want the battery to survive, discharge it completely once a month.
Be sure the laptop is cleaned out (dust in the fans) and consider suspending or hibernating overnight.
Heat is the enemy of laptops. Their hard drives do not last as long as full-size PCs.

Yes, it is alright, but if you are going to leave it plugged in for that amount of time the manufacturer will recommend that you take out the laptop's battery.
But yeah, you can do that with no problem.

No, they get hotter that way, if you leave it plugged in, and since its on more dust and things like that get in the fans which isn't good either, also if your leaving the computer on and running, it's more prone to viruses rather then just turning it off when you're finished.
