A couple of reasons. 1st, we may have trouble accepting the fact we're actually locked out. 2nd, we want confirmation of the fact. 3rd, we want so much to NOT be locked out we exercise our fervent hope we can change it. 4th, we accept the fact and merely jiggle out of frustration.

Because we as a society feel that if we do not jiggle said doorknob, we will not be convinced we are locked out. Jiggling just solidifies the fact that we are indeed locked out.

of course since we know the doorknob usually open's a door, we jiggle even if it's locked. =)

Trust but verify. Unless you jiggle the doorknob you don't really know for sure. Its a verification proceedure. Don't worry about it.

Just hoping and praying that somehow all that jiggling will somehow make the door "magically" open. LOL

Kinda like a secret handshake, if we giggle it the right way POP goes the door lock...

Cause sometimes the door is not really locked, it's just jammed and turning the knob a bit harder will cause it to open.

Not usually, but it works sometimes.

In disbelief that you did such a moronic thing. The mind is a quirky thing.
