Actually about 7 years ago the NFL and football surpassed MLB and baseball as the most watched and played sport in America. Sorry baseball fans. Maybe it was the strike. Maybe it was Mark Mcguire admitting to using a legal steroid. Maybe now it's Barry Bonds and all his buddies juicing. Football is more exciting to watch anyway.

Just like the Cowboys are still America's team. It's a cliche that people won't stop using. Football is clearly the most popular sport, but baseball fanatics are slowly dying off. I love baseball, just not more than football.

It's just a cliched old phrase, that's all. It's pretty obvious that football has far surpassed baseball as the most popular sport in the nation.

It's not even close, really - football beat baseball by more than twice as much in a poll conducted late last year.

well they dont call it the national past time refering it as the best sport. i love football. Baseball is the national past time because if u knew they played even during times when we had the depression where our economy was sruggling, help take the mind of the bad times and it was something very positive.
Even though i think baseball is boring i respect it.

The fact that almost every kid has played organised baseball of some kind. Also they play almost every day.
I think people like football better but baseball has a long tradition and it's just kind of in our blood.

I have to disagree with you and everybody else that says this. Baseball is, and always will be, our national past time. But, the present time, and possibly the future, it is football.

I like baseball but I don't see why it is still the national past time with all the steroid controversy.

It's clearly football because their not clouded with controversy like steroids in baseball well at least not yet.

because it's older, this country has been through more with it, anybody can play, and it's still baseball

football might be the more popular right now, but baseball was here through the depression, WW1 and 2, etc, etc. It's the history behind it.
