OK the PS3 itself is gonna be $600. You still have to get a game which is $70 per, AND if you wanna get the best out of PS3 you need a HDTV which is at least 500 {depending on size}. so far the total is $1370. I would get a Xbox 360 and an Nintendo wii. Two systems for the price of 1.

If you are not sitting down then i would if i were you because it is expensive. The ps3 will cost 599.00 plus tax and that's without a game, so tack on another 75.00 bucks for that, by the time your done it could cost you a cool 1000 bucks. But it is going to be the bomb system for sure. I can't wait for it to come out, if you want the best then you will have to pay for it. That's why so many people have knocked the ps3 because they can't get there mom and dad to pony up the dough for one, so they will have to settle for the weak Wii system when they know if they had the money they would drop it on the ps3.I've been saving my money and am ready for the new next generation ps3 to hit.

A LOT!!! Around $500(small storage), $600(big storage). Get a Xbox 360 and a NIntendo Wii to equal 1 PS3.

The playstation 3 is supposed to be $599 US for the premium version. That has a 60 gig hardrive, blue ray drive, bluetooth controllers, flash card reader built in, Wi fi connectivity, HDMI port and comes with a silver logo and trim.
The basic version is gonna be $499 and only has a 20 gig harddrive, blue ray drive and bluetooth controllers.
Release date in the US is November 17th 2006 currently.

$600, is the current estimate, i heard that what you get for $600 is really more than you would get for the minimum on xbox 360. i think that there is only one unit and no upgraded ps3's that cost more. check out ign.com on the ps3 page, they had a big article about it. it's well worth the money though, once you check the videos on that site, you will see why.
