Most times, they do. Women, even modern women, are natural caretakers and problem solvers. They tend to look at the big picture. Men tend to "fix" a problem without looking into the ramifications of their actions.
At the same time, I will give men credit that they don't feel the need to always be the one in the spotlight. An office full of men and a few women is much more desirable that an office full of women with a few men.

Often they do. In all seriousness, women and men are wired to solve problems differently; they have different foci (plural of focus) when they approach a situation. Women as a rule tend to be more emotion-oriented, you could say they approach issues based on what they feel rather than what they think. The phrase "women's intuition" is no falsehood.
Men, on the other hand, are more likely to approach issues based on their rational thought processes. Before women all over the Internet stone me, let me elaborate: men in our society are more likely to take a step by step approach (first X happens, then Y happens) and on a good day may be seen as plodding, but they'll hit on a solution than women will often make an intuitive leap to, by passing several deductive steps.
Men by and large and often more methodical, and women are often more intuitive. Men look at method, women look at motive. Women DO often know better than men because of that. Men often have more base knowledge, but our application is not the best.
The key to this question is who's the primary actor (the one who acts more), a man or a woman?

They don't always. Some of them do, some of them don't. Some men think they know better than women. In some cases, people actually have common sense, and realize that neither men or women, in general, know better, about everything, and that most of what one knows about really doesn't have all that much to do with one's gender.
Added: Wow...ok, for example...I am a man. And in this case, I know better than most of the people who've answered, men and women. And that remark one girl made about men using one side of their brain, and women using both, is total and utter bullshit.

Why do men always think they are better than women? Because no one wants to admit that they're wrong.

It depends on the subject, of course, but nature made up for our lesser body strength by allowing the two halves of our brain to communicate more effectively with each other. One of the results of that effective communication is a keen sense of intuition. We tend to utilize that ability much more than men so, in many cases, we "feel" things that men don't.

And why do men think they know better than women?
I personally don't like to think as women being better, nor men being better. But. Honestly, studies have shown that men think with one side of their brain, while we women tend to think with both sides of our brain. Of course, scientists aren't going to unleash that finding to the public, or an uproar would be caused. Basically a fight between the sexes or something.
And anyway. Men tend to make decisions that aren't very good.

no, your made to think that way, because women answer more questions, men just ask the basic..what? and how? what do you mean?
for example..a woman is talking to a man about taking out the trash, woman is talking alot and then man asks "what?"
