Some time ago, there was a commercial for Maxell tapes that aired, I believe, in Canada, which featured a guy flipping signs while listening to Desmond Dekker's "Israelites". The signs had the "lyrics" on them, which were garbled terribly - e.g., instead of "Me Israelites," the sign said "Me ears are alight".

Funniest thing I've seen as a commercial - I spent about six months locating a copy on the Internet.

The best commercial ever ran in 1967. It was for Rice Crispies cereal and featured the Monkees (the TV/Band). They were goofing as doctors and Mickey Dolenz is the "surgeon" he asks for things like a surgeon would (bowl, spoon, milk, Rice Crispies). Then Peter Tork sits up and is okay. Dolenz asks the announcer if Tork will be able to play the bass guitar. When the announcer says he will Dolenz delivers the oldest line in the book...."Funny, he never could before!" I know most of you haven't seen it but it has stuck with me for almost 40 years!!

I saw one for bud light during the superbowl 2005 where a guy throws the beer out of the plane thinking the scared guy will go after it. Then the pilot comes running down the plane and jumps after it. That was funny,

I also liked the colourful Konica adverts.Especially with the carnival.

It is a single shot of an older couple in a bedroom sleeping. A mosquito buzzes and the guy gets up in the dark to get the bug spray. He sprays and sprays, but the bug still buzzes. His wife turns on the light on and the walls are painted black. He grabbed the spray paint instead of the Mozzie spray.

It is a advert for dupont paint I believe.

Sorry but it has to be...

"R WHITES LEMONA-A-ADE."

"I'm a secret lemonade drink-er"

"I've been trying to give it up but it's one of those nights..."

If you remember the ad and the dodgy pyjamas, you'll be humming that for the rest of the night now... you can send me hate mail in the morning if you can't get to sleep tonight.

The photo booth with Rab C Nesbitt in the Hamlet ad was also a classic. The chimp's character in the piano/PG Tips ad was called Mr Shifter and also starred Irene Handel. Compared to the crap that's on today like the pink women in Sheila's wheels, they were in a league of their own.

Did no-one but me notice that the car's being driven by a kangaroo....? Skippy's obviously fallen on hard times since the 70s but looking well for his age. Still, I suppose he'd be useful if they ever needed a jump-start.

I like the one showing currently though I'm not sure of the sponsor , it has some hikers playing pranks on a Bigfoot creature , in one they put charcoal on the viewing lens of a pair of binoculars and set it on a tree stump. Then a Bigfoot comes along and after having a peek through the binoculars he has black rings around his eyes and gets mad and tosses it knocking out one of the hikers , that one always gets a laugh out of me.

I'd have to go with the Taco Bell chihuahua. Yeah, the advertising campaign was supposedly ineffective, and they really weren't all that funny. Still, it's been years, and people still remember who the Taco Bell chihuahua was.

Capital One has had some really funny ads too.

It was an advert for Skips crisps in the late 1980s where some animated wirey characters were dancing around and saying "frizzly on my tongue" and "liquidise, liquidise".
