Get the book "What To Expect When Expecting" and read it before going off on more buying sprees. Also, think if any family members or friends are goign to throw you a baby shower. If so, hold off so people have things they can get you. If you feel a need to shop, do so but do not buy anything, just make a note of what you like, so you could register (target.com makes this easy) or drop hints. Good luck and congratulations!
They also have a book for expecant fathers so your husband may want to check that out.

Yes, you are only 2 months and a half. I made the mistake of shopping early when my sister was pregnant, and she ended up losing the baby. It is said that the first 3 months, woman have a high percentage to lose the baby. You will find out the sex of the baby bet the 4-5 month. Once you do, go easy. At like 7 months, register at a store for whatever you need. If you think that your family and friends will not be able to buy the things that you really want, then start to buy a few pieces each week. Remember take it easy, and keep all receipts just in case you need to return. Don't assume just because their is a tag on the merchandise, that the store will take it back. Get a gift receipt or keep the orginal. The store will give you a list of the things that think are necessary. Some people don't argree with the entire list, that is fine. Also you could google" Things needed for baby to come home".

You will only need one bassinet. I suggest finding a consignment shop near you and getting an account. You will get a percentage of everything they sell for you, and you will have a place to shop for things that you need fairly cheaply. I would suggest not buying too much, because since this is your first child, you most likely will be getting almost everything you will need. You may want to get more bottles, and maybe a crib (although my son never slept in a crib; he went from the bassinet to a playpen, and was scared of cribs) Some clothes you can buy that are gender neutral (bibs, green/yellow stuff) But it's only another 10 wks and you'll be able to find out what you're having. Good luck, have fun!

Go ahead and buy a bit. They have unisex clothes out there. There is more you can buy. Even the crib set, that doesn't have to be male or female. Stock up on diapers! And Dreft is a good laundry soap for baby clothes, it won't aggravate baby's skin. Wash everything before baby comes too. You might want to look into getting a crib too, because as soon as baby starts moving around, a bassinet isn't going to hold him/her. Get more bottles. Try to find a bottle warmer, it does help. Carseat/ carrier. The hospital will not allow you to leave the hospital without a baby carrier/carseat. It helps too to have the blocks for sleeping, you can find them at K-mart or Target. You can use either a rolled up blanket or they also have the head cushions for carseats to keep baby's head from rolling around.
Lotion, shampoo, vaseline (if it's a boy and you get him circumcised). It helps to find a baby bath, much easier to bathe them in. There are also the sets that have thermometers, nail clippers, bulb syringes, and medicine syringes in them, very handy. Go to a store like Babys R' Us and walk around. Check things out. You will start to get a great idea of the little extras you can get. Diaper bags, nursing set ups. If you plan on breastfeeding, pumps, nursing pads, even the cream that helps prevent nipple soreness lol.
There is a lot more, but really , you have a long time to figure things out, so dont' panic yet lol. But don't worry about your husband, mine did the same thing. Just make your appointments, and go shopping when you feel like it. Because when you get 7 to 9 months along, you are going to be tired and sore, and not able to get as far or get as much done, and you really don't want to have things hanging out there at the last minute. You should be able to find out the sex of the baby between 5 to 6 months. Its a really exciting ultrasound to watch, and they won't let you find out until the end usually.
Good luck!

I suggest that you look at things that every baby needs no matter the sex...crib, stroller, car seats, diapers. That sort of thing. Shop around. I would start with a registry. Make sure to include diapers on it in different sizes. Same with the car seat, you will surprised how quickly they grow out of them. Remember to put everything on your registry. Just because it is on there doesn't mean that people have to buy it, but you never know people can be very generous. If you do buy clothes by them at a store that you know that you can take them back or exchange them.
If you know that you are going to have more then one baby shower suggest to one of the host that she take up a collection instead of everyone bringing a gift. That way you can buy some of the higher end items and save your money for stuff that you will need after the baby comes.
Also don't waste your money on a changing table. I found myself not wanting to climb the stairs every time my son needed changing. More often then not you just end up changing them where ever you are. Plus it is recommend that you change your baby on the floor. They can roll off the change table, and the floor is free. Great way to keep the cost down.

Yeah, you still have plenty of time to shop for baby. You will need clothes and more bottles. If you dont plan on breastfeeding then you will need lots of formula (but you cant really buy that before hand because you dont know what your baby will be able to tolerate) You can go to walmart or targets website and they have a good baby checklist. If you have a baby shower, you can ask people to give you diapers and gift cards (which will come in handy for formula and more diapers!)...and anything else you havent bought. Make sure you have Milicon (gas drops) and tylenol on hand at all times! Congrats and good luck!!

I say wait until you know what gender you are having.. or if you want the baby to be a surprise, wait until you are at least 5 months before getting anything. Trust me, I have a house full of baby stuff and its kind of a pain in the butt and in the way because its just sitting there with no baby and taking up space.
But here is a great site for what items you need:

Oh yeah, you only need one bassinet... by one month the baby will probably be too big for it.... and especially after 3 months, your baby will definitly be too big for a bassinet.

I'd wait until you were at least 5-6 months. 2 bassinets is crazy, the baby will only use it for up to 3 months. Since this is your first child is anyone planning a baby shower for you? If so wait, you will get tons of clothes and nessecities(spelled wrong) for the baby.

First off you need to be respectful of your Husbands stance. Might I suggest you utitlize your womanly wiles to get him to back off a little bit. As far as clothes, there are a lot of unisexual clothes you can purchase inexpensively. There are consignment clothing groups for parents with children and the clothes are usually in excellent quality and cheap. Purchase the book "A Girlfriends Guide to pregnancy". Not only is it insightful, it is funny as well and very plain spoken. Additionally you will need to take a breast feeding class, most hospitals have a nurse on staff who handle all those questions, if yours does not, ask your Prenatal care physician to help you locate one. They will tell you the tricks, techniques, and ways to involve husband in the breastfeeding process. Ignore the lie that you will get more sleep if you use formula, you will sleep a lot more and develop a better emotional relationship with your child breastfeeding. Also, you will have a healthier child by doing so. Get diapers, a stroller, and and a food processor if you do not have one. The processor will help you make your own baby food when and save a bunch of money in doing so. We made our own Aplle Sauce, avacdo slices, pear sauce, peas, etc. Because of breatfeeding and home processing of our own foods, we estimated a savings of five to ten thousand dollars over two years alone. Keep my name if you have any other questions, I would be glad to help. Most importantly, congratulations! This is the biggest life changing moment ever and it is fantastic!
