Currently, the only 2 options I have as default e-mail programs are microsoft outlook and hotmail. I dont use either of these e-mail programs. I have been unable to find a way to add another e-mail program (Yahoo) to the list of available default programs. Microsoft has been absolutely no help in this issue so I am hoping that the good folks on yahoo can shed some light on this for me. I have internet explorer 6.0 running on microsoft xp professional. Thanks in advance to all you helpful souls!

I am sorry to have to give you the bad news: It can't be done.

Yahoo used to have a little program you could download that would add Yahoo as an option to the default email program list on Internet Explorer. They have--for some baffling reason--ceased offering this program for download.

How do I know this? I emailed them myself to get that program, and they told me that they no longer offered it.

Sux, I know. But 'tis the way 'tis.

Give up the search. I say that only to be helpful. I am one too who will search and search for a way...and, I'm telling you, my search this time proved to be futile.

For use with Outlook Express you need to have the Paid POP Premium service or have Yahoo DSL. I see the confusion that Microsoft has. Outlook is part of the Microsoft Office Suite of tools. Microsoft Outlook Express is free with installations of Internet Explorer. To do that you need to follow the instructions for setting up the account. Link provided.

Hotmail can be setup to perform a pop download of your email on Yahoo. The same POP & SMTP informtion as for use with outlook express is all you need.

well you can't add it, becuase Outlook and Hotmail are programs installed on your computer(and that's what the settings are for). since yahoo mail is not a program but a mail service provided over the internet-- it's not an option on the list

Yahoo doesn't support POP3 accounts.
and it is not installed on your system .it is a web based service.
so you can't add it.
