Without a doubt it was "Silas Marner". It was required reading in high school and was probably the most boring book that I ever read. There were other boring books, but I did not wind up reading the whole damn thing.

Perhaps "Chariots of the Gods" although I'm pretty certain I didn't finish it.
I did read "Valley of the Dolls" when I was a kid, and I don't remember much about it except that it was trash.
"Don Quixote" is a book I've tried to read for years, is a classic, and is considered great, I think, yet I cannot get through more than a few dozen pages of it without getting bored and putting it down.
Same with the "Lord of the Rings" books. Everybody I knew raved about them, but I simply can't read them.
Yet as a child, I read all 17 of the "Oz" books in my school library. Books are funny friends. Some of them you remember forever, and others you just ignore.
I know you didn't ask, but I've got to tell you the best book, too. Edward O. Wilson's "Consilience, the Unity of Knowledge" Great, great book!

Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell... the story was acutally pretty good, but it was such a confusing read I almost put it down many times out of fustration. It took me a month to finish.

The worse book I have ever read... none. If is isn't good then I just don't read it. The best book I never read was 'Running with Scissors' and 'Dry' by Augusten Burroughs.

"Running with Scissors" by Augusten Burroughs. The worst ever--I couldn't continue reading it.
