I know everyone judges someone and the saying "Those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones" is never heeded. But are you conscience of when you judge others? Do you try to stop yourself? Why or why not?

Other than the Bush administration, I do not judge others. I however have judged the Bush administration and found it totally lacking positive attributes.

I 'stalk' myself.
Thoughts have a way of getting ahead of us...
I have become quite watchful.
I can usually catch things pretty fast, but sometimes it takes a while.
Life, in part, is a process of cleansing from this process (judging).
It's very liberating learning to let go.

I have a pretty high awareness of the reflexive nature of life which you mention in your question (glass houses). Perhaps I have stopped myself too much at times. Leave a little bit of space for just being human (forgiveness).

Take care.
Thanks for asking a worthwhile question such as this one!

Of course. Everyone judges others. It is a natural part of who we are. But there is a difference between judging people and deciding how other people should live their lives. We can think what we want of others, but it doesn't mean they have to feel the same way or that we should hold their faults against them. Everyone has things others won't like, but who are we to hold it against them?

For instance, my best friend has been around the block a few times, while I haven't. But that is just who she is and I don't think less of her because of it. Her actions don't determine who she is; the way she treats me is all that matters.

Yes, I judge others. I also judge myself. I find myself to be my own worst critic. When you see someone weaving in and out of traffic, or speeding don't you say to yourself, "what an idiot. He's either going to have an accident or get caught!" Then down the road a bit, you see him in front of a police car, or upside down in a ditch. Your judgement was correct. Yes, judge others, and act as if others are judging you. It all works out.

Everyone judges people (whether they admit it or not). It's part of our survival instinct. At the most basic level (it's involuntary), you have no control over it.

There is a point of passing judgment that it becomes voluntary (you can control it, but are choosing to pass judgment).

I try to be as non-judgmental as possible of people or situations that do not endanger or directly affect me....

Yes! I do but i don't mean to and i think that everyone does in some way or another weather they mean to or not and if they don't admit to it they are lying to them selves. When u talk about someone in a negative way u are judging them. I'll try to stop!

Human beings naturally judge people. All I have to do is read your question and instinctively judge "she must be someone who thinks deep about social issues and equality".

I try to be open to all ideas and cultures, etc. I just can't stand the Chronically Stupid (wonder if am one...)

As you say, we are all guilty of it. Yes, I do try and am often successful at stopping myself from passing judgment. In this fractured world that we live in it is hard not to judge, but none of us has a right to do so. It is God and only God that has a right to judge.

Here's the thing, I get accused of NOT judging others. I tend to be the one who realizes someone is different (race, color, smell, whatever) but doesn't realize it. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect and I really think I do that. I get more angry at people who continue to make the same mistakes (human services field) because I expect better of them. Somehow, they learn to expect better of themselves. Hope that helps.
