number one is to remember that you really aren't "eating for two," you actually only need to consume an extra 300 calories a day (rises to 500 a day if you breastfeed later on). so 300 calories a day doesn't really amount to that much more... make sure that you are making healthy food choices.. sure, if you crave something, let yourself have it, but do so in moderation! also, you can exercise (as long as you're not having a complicated pregnancy and your doctor ok's you). i walk on the treadmill and ride the stationary bike for 30 minutes a day. there are tons of great resources online for pregnancy nutrition guidelines.. just go to yahoo and search under 'nutrition for a healthy pregnancy', i would also suggest getting a book called "Nutrition for a healthy pregnancy," that's what i read.. it has lists of good foods and foods to avoid or limit in it as well.. great reading material.. hope this all helps.. good luck with the pregnancy

As bad as this sounds I actually use a thigh master and the butt master to try to keep my legs in shape and also my arms..since I cant do sit ups or anything...I try walking and as soon as I get my bike back I'll be doing some light biking too. I also do leg lights for my butt and thighs. To answer your question if you must have what your craving, if it's a fatty food only eat a small amount. Work out lightly to keep your body active. When you are hungry but don't have cravings make sure you're eating healthy food. Since my first drs appt I've only gained 2 lbs. If you stay in shape while pregnant it will be easier to lose once the baby is born. Talk to your doctor about what you can do. I know that you go to the gym but shouldnt lift anything more than like 10 lbs and that you shouldnt let your heart rate get over 140 bpm. Good luck!

Here's how I handled the cravings. I'd eat whatever I craved, but only two or three bites if was something high in fat or sugar. However, there were times when I craved fish or salad. And to offset anything I ate that wasn't exactly "healthy" I'd walk a little farther the next day. Walking is excellent while you're pregnant... and after delivery.

Cravings can be very strong, and it's usually okay to give in to them - just do it in moderation! It's your body's way of telling you it needs some kind on nutrient - what comes to your mind may not be the best way of getting it, but generally you're not going to crave something that's bad for the baby. With my first one it was watermelon, that was easy - with the second, it was grilled ham and cheese sandwiches. As for losing the weight afterwards, breastfeeding is the best, easiest way - certainly best for the baby, and it doesn't cost a dime!

Pregnancy is not a time to worry about weight loss or maintaining it. Without the doctor approving it.
I lost 10 lbs at the start of my pregnancy due to GD, I have only gained about 7 lbs of it back, but the doctor's have been seeing me every 2 weeks to keep a watch on me and all is good and the baby is healthy and growing great.

Not nice mommy. You need to eat.
Anyway, I ate 5-6 smal meals a day. Believe it or not, my midwife cussed me out b/c I was not gaining weight but I was getting bigger in the stomach. I couldn't eat hamburgers during the 1st so I was severely restricted in my diet and I was lactose intolerant. I lost the baby weight about 2-3 months after I had my son. I worked out irregularly for that time and I was too busy to eat so the weight came off real easy.
My second, I pigged out and was lazy and I'm just now (she's 3) getting the weight off.

you should probably take yoga classes for pregnant women or some sort of relaxing exercise class. that will keep you in shape body wise. with the cravings, you could eat less of whatever it is your craving for. dont go crazy on it. you will gain weight but the yoga or some other class like that and the portioning of your food should keep you down from gaining crazy weight

I think just to make sure you eat alot of healthy fruits and veggies and milk. I gained 45 pounds with my son and have lots it all but I was totally addicted to dairy products. Good luck. and after the baby they say that breastfeeding helps you lose the weight faster too. I did that too.

make sure you eat right...but the doctor usually asks the mom to put on enough weight to support two living beings...you and your baby. Talk to your doctor...they know your body and what to do. You make sure you exercise alot after birth...eat healthy, dont eat when and whats most conveinient.
